Theo just moved into apartment 4B of an old New York building. The rent is cheap, the radiator is loud, and the mailbox downstairs has a habit of eating his mail.

Then a letter arrives. It's addressed to the girl who lived in 4B — in 1997.

Her name is Hannah. She draws comics, works at a record store, and thinks Theo is playing a very weird prank. But every letter he slips into the mailbox reaches her. Every letter she writes back reaches him. And the grumpy old repairman across the hall seems to know a lot more than he's saying.
